In 2018 Q4, robot vacuum manufacturer Ecovacs tasked Somos with executing a major Black Friday campaign. Together with the brand, we established the goal of generating at least 30,000 e-mail leads for directing traffic to Ecovacs’ Amazon Deal of the Day promotion during Black Friday.
The Ecovacs Black Friday 2018 campaign combined Facebook Ads and e-mail marketing with a point-based social media sharing activity. In total, we obtained over 42,000 leads through giveaway entries and generated a 6-figure sales volume from the campaign.
This campaign lasted 26 days and consisted of two phases. This included a 14 day “warm up” period where we promoted a big giveaway by encouraging users to share our activity, and a 12 day “main push” where our objective was to drive contestants to Ecovacs’ Amazon deal of the day.
Phase I “warm up”
We designed and coded a custom landing page with a built-in point system to encourage social media shares (Link). Users entered the landing page via Facebook ads and registered with their name and e-mail address. Upon registering, users received their own custom link, which could be shared with friends to gain more entry points for each friend who entered. The more points each user gathered, the more likely they were to win. The 45 users with the most points each received a free robot vacuum!
During the first 2 weeks, our landing page received over 136,000 visitors and resulted in over 42,000 giveaway entries. The activity was shared almost 5,000 times during this phase, and we were able to generate leads at an average cost of $0.36 per e-mail.
Phase II – Once the giveaway was over, we congratulated the winners and sent all other entrants a consoling e-mail, leading them to our second landing page advertising Ecovacs’ Amazon Deal of the Day promo. file:///Y:/Clients/Ecovacs/landing%20page/black%20friday/index_dotd.html}

Campaign Results – In just 26 days, we had contributed to turning $26,900 in ad spend into more than $100,000 in sales revenue. We actually had to pull down the ads 12 hours early because Ecovacs sold out halfway through Cyber Monday!
Ecovacs gained over 42,000 e-mail list subscribers and enormous amounts of reusable Facebook audience targeting data thanks to this campaign.
